77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, Mendell D. Morgan Jr. is concluding more than a
99 decade of service as a member of the Live Oak City Council in May
1010 2025; and
1111 WHEREAS, Mr. Morgan was first elected to the council in 2014
1212 as the Place 1 representative; throughout his time in office, he has
1313 played an important role in enacting local legislation, adopting
1414 budgets, and determining city policies; and
1515 WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Morgan has made his home in Live
1616 Oak since 1975; he is currently the director of development for the
1717 El Progreso Memorial Library in Uvalde, and prior to that role, he
1818 served for 33 years as an assistant professor and librarian at the
1919 University of the Incarnate Word, where he is now dean emeritus; in
2020 2024, he was named the Librarian of the Year by the Texas Library
2121 Association; active in his community, he serves with the Kiwanis
2222 Club of the Greater Randolph Area and the Humane Society of Live
2323 Oak, and he is a valued member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church;
2424 and
2525 WHEREAS, Through his dedicated leadership and commitment to
2626 good governance, Mendell Morgan has contributed immeasurably to his
2727 community, and in so doing, he has earned the admiration and
2828 appreciation of his fellow residents; now, therefore, be it
2929 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3030 Legislature hereby congratulate Mendell D. Morgan Jr. on his
3131 retirement from the Live Oak City Council and extend to him sincere
3232 best wishes for the future; and, be it further
3333 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3434 prepared for Mr. Morgan as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3535 House of Representatives.
