| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mendell D. Morgan Jr. is concluding more than a |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | decade of service as a member of the Live Oak City Council in May |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 2025; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Morgan was first elected to the council in 2014 |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | as the Place 1 representative; throughout his time in office, he has |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | played an important role in enacting local legislation, adopting |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | budgets, and determining city policies; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Morgan has made his home in Live |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Oak since 1975; he is currently the director of development for the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | El Progreso Memorial Library in Uvalde, and prior to that role, he |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | served for 33 years as an assistant professor and librarian at the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | University of the Incarnate Word, where he is now dean emeritus; in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 2024, he was named the Librarian of the Year by the Texas Library |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Association; active in his community, he serves with the Kiwanis |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Club of the Greater Randolph Area and the Humane Society of Live |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Oak, and he is a valued member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Through his dedicated leadership and commitment to |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | good governance, Mendell Morgan has contributed immeasurably to his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | community, and in so doing, he has earned the admiration and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | appreciation of his fellow residents; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Mendell D. Morgan Jr. on his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | retirement from the Live Oak City Council and extend to him sincere |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | prepared for Mr. Morgan as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
