77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, Members of the Chambers County Sheriff's Office
99 Explorers achieved great distinction with their exceptional
1010 showing at the Space City Explorer Challenge, hosted by the Houston
1111 Police Department on March 29, 2025; and
1212 WHEREAS, Individuals between the ages of 14 and 21 are
1313 eligible for the Explorer program, which provides educational and
1414 leadership training as well as community service opportunities that
1515 help equip youth with the skills necessary to become engaged and
1616 productive citizens; the CCSO Explorers and teams from the
1717 San Antonio Police Department, the Dallas Police Department, and
1818 the Harris County Sheriff's Office joined other posts from across
1919 Texas at the annual contest; participants are tested on their
2020 knowledge, teamwork, and practical skills as they compete in
2121 realistic law enforcement-based events, including search warrant
2222 of a residence, burglary in progress, intoxicated driver, and
2323 officer down; and
2424 WHEREAS, Demonstrating impressive professionalism and
2525 discipline, CCSO Explorers Kam Carter, LilliAnn Dueitt, Cameron
2626 Gonzales, and Ian Nix excelled in three categories, placing first
2727 in arrest/search warrant, third in burglary in process, and third
2828 in intoxicated driver; the CCSO initiative benefits from the
2929 mentorship of Sergeant Brian Orlando and Deputy Mariana Avalos as
3030 well as the support of county District Attorney Cheryl Lieck Henry
3131 and Sheriff Brian Hawthorne, who has hired a number of former
3232 Explorers for positions in his department; and
3333 WHEREAS, Through their hard work and commitment to
3434 excellence, the CCSO Explorers have brought great pride to their
3535 community, and they are truly deserving of special recognition for
3636 their accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
3737 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3838 Legislature hereby congratulate the Chambers County Sheriff's
3939 Office Explorers on their outstanding performance at the 2025 Space
4040 City Explorer Challenge and extend to these fine young Texans
4141 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
4242 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4343 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4444 House of Representatives.
