| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Chambers County Sheriff's Office |

| 9 | 9 | | Explorers achieved great distinction with their exceptional |

| 10 | 10 | | showing at the Space City Explorer Challenge, hosted by the Houston |

| 11 | 11 | | Police Department on March 29, 2025; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Individuals between the ages of 14 and 21 are |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | eligible for the Explorer program, which provides educational and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | leadership training as well as community service opportunities that |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | help equip youth with the skills necessary to become engaged and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | productive citizens; the CCSO Explorers and teams from the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | San Antonio Police Department, the Dallas Police Department, and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the Harris County Sheriff's Office joined other posts from across |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Texas at the annual contest; participants are tested on their |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | knowledge, teamwork, and practical skills as they compete in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | realistic law enforcement-based events, including search warrant |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | of a residence, burglary in progress, intoxicated driver, and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | officer down; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Demonstrating impressive professionalism and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | discipline, CCSO Explorers Kam Carter, LilliAnn Dueitt, Cameron |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Gonzales, and Ian Nix excelled in three categories, placing first |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | in arrest/search warrant, third in burglary in process, and third |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | in intoxicated driver; the CCSO initiative benefits from the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | mentorship of Sergeant Brian Orlando and Deputy Mariana Avalos as |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | well as the support of county District Attorney Cheryl Lieck Henry |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and Sheriff Brian Hawthorne, who has hired a number of former |

| 32 | 32 | | Explorers for positions in his department; and |

| 33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Through their hard work and commitment to |

| 34 | 34 | | excellence, the CCSO Explorers have brought great pride to their |

| 35 | 35 | | community, and they are truly deserving of special recognition for |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | their accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |

| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 38 | 38 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Chambers County Sheriff's |

| 39 | 39 | | Office Explorers on their outstanding performance at the 2025 Space |

| 40 | 40 | | City Explorer Challenge and extend to these fine young Texans |
