| 15 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 16 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 541.302(2), Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 17 | 12 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 18 | 13 | | (2) "Crosswalk" means: |
|---|
| 19 | 14 | | (A) the portion of a roadway, including an |
|---|
| 20 | 15 | | intersection, designated as a pedestrian crossing by surface |
|---|
| 21 | 16 | | markings, including lines; [or] |
|---|
| 22 | 17 | | (B) the portion of a roadway at an intersection |
|---|
| 23 | 18 | | that is within the connections of the lateral lines of the sidewalks |
|---|
| 24 | 19 | | on opposite sides of the highway measured from the curbs or, in the |
|---|
| 25 | 20 | | absence of curbs, from the edges of the traversable roadway; or |
|---|
| 26 | 21 | | (C) where sidewalks run parallel to a roadway and |
|---|
| 27 | 22 | | are interrupted by a driveway, the portion of the driveway that is |
|---|
| 28 | 23 | | within the connections of the lateral lines of the sidewalks on |
|---|
| 29 | 24 | | opposite sides of the driveway. |
|---|
| 30 | 25 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 31 | 26 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 32 | 27 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 33 | 28 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 34 | 29 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
