127 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
138 AN ACT
149 relating to the definition of a crosswalk.
1510 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1611 SECTION 1. Section 541.302(2), Transportation Code, is
1712 amended to read as follows:
1813 (2) "Crosswalk" means:
1914 (A) the portion of a roadway, including an
2015 intersection, designated as a pedestrian crossing by surface
2116 markings, including lines; [or]
2217 (B) the portion of a roadway at an intersection
2318 that is within the connections of the lateral lines of the sidewalks
2419 on opposite sides of the highway measured from the curbs or, in the
2520 absence of curbs, from the edges of the traversable roadway; or
2621 (C) where sidewalks run parallel to a roadway and
2722 are interrupted by a driveway, the portion of the driveway that is
2823 within the connections of the lateral lines of the sidewalks on
2924 opposite sides of the driveway.
3025 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3126 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3227 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3328 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3429 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
