88 AN ACT
99 relating to the administration of botulinum toxin by dentists.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 258, Occupations Code, is
1212 amended by adding Section 258.0531 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 258.0531. USE OF BOTULINUM TOXIN. (a) A dentist may,
1414 for aesthetic purposes, administer to a patient's oral and
1515 maxillofacial regions a neuromodulator containing botulinum toxin
1616 or a biosimilar or bioequivalent neuromodulator only if the dentist
1717 has completed a course of training approved by the board on the
1818 administration of the neuromodulator.
1919 (b) The board shall adopt rules to implement this section.
2020 SECTION 2. Not later than December 1, 2025, the State Board
2121 of Dental Examiners shall adopt the rules required by Section
2222 258.0531, Occupations Code, as added by this Act.
2323 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
