77 AN ACT
88 relating to requests for law enforcement agency reports from the
99 attorney general related to crime victims' compensation
1010 applications.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Article 56B.054(f), Code of Criminal Procedure
1313 is amended to read as follows:
1414 Art. 56B.054(f) On request by the attorney general and not later
1515 than the 14th business day after the date of the request, a law
1616 enforcement agency shall release to the attorney general all
1717 reports, including witness statements and criminal history record
1818 information, to allow the attorney general to determine whether a
1919 claimant or victim qualifies for an award and the extent of the
2020 qualification. Information received by the attorney general under
2121 this subsection is not subject to release under Texas Government
2222 Code Chapter 552.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
