 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to boil water notices issued by public drinking water
 supply systems.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 341, Health and Safety
 Code, is amended by adding Section 341.043 to read as follows:
 Sec. 341.043.  BOIL WATER NOTICES. (a) The commission shall
 require an operator of a public drinking water supply system to
 issue a boil water notice not later than 12 hours after the public
 drinking water supply system learns of:
 (1)  a violation by the system of rules adopted by the
 commission under this subchapter that creates a significant
 potential for human health to be seriously adversely affected; or
 (2)  a situation that creates a significant potential
 for human health to be adversely affected by water from the system.
 (b)  If the violation or situation has not been resolved 72
 hours after the boil water notice was issued, the public drinking
 water supply system shall reissue the boil water notice with a
 statement describing the actions the public drinking water supply
 system is taking to address the violation or situation.
 (c)  A public drinking water supply system may issue a boil
 water notice by any means of direct communication that meets the
 requirements of the federal Safe Drinking Water Act (42 U.S.C.
 Section 300f et seq.).
 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
