11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 6.05(d), Tax Code, is amended to read as | |
13 | 13 | follows: | |
14 | 14 | (d) Except as provided by Section 6.0501, the chief | |
15 | 15 | appraiser is entitled to compensation as provided by the budget | |
16 | 16 | adopted by the board of directors. No portion of the [The] chief | |
17 | 17 | appraiser's compensation may [not] be directly or indirectly linked | |
18 | 18 | to the expectation of an increase in the total market, appraised, or | |
19 | 19 | taxable value of property in the appraisal district. Except as | |
20 | 20 | provided by Section 6.0501, the chief appraiser may employ and | |
21 | 21 | compensate professional, clerical, and other personnel as provided | |
22 | 22 | by the budget, with the exception of a general counsel to the | |
23 | 23 | appraisal district. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
25 | 25 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
26 | 26 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
27 | 27 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
28 | 28 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
