77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to the compensation of the chief apprasier of an appraisal
1010 district.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 6.05(d), Tax Code, is amended to read as
1313 follows:
1414 (d) Except as provided by Section 6.0501, the chief
1515 appraiser is entitled to compensation as provided by the budget
1616 adopted by the board of directors. No portion of the [The] chief
1717 appraiser's compensation may [not] be directly or indirectly linked
1818 to the expectation of an increase in the total market, appraised, or
1919 taxable value of property in the appraisal district. Except as
2020 provided by Section 6.0501, the chief appraiser may employ and
2121 compensate professional, clerical, and other personnel as provided
2222 by the budget, with the exception of a general counsel to the
2323 appraisal district.
2424 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2525 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2626 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2727 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2828 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
