10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 38, Education Code, is | |
12 | 12 | amended by adding Section 38.042 to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | Sec. 38.042. CUSTODIAN WORKLOAD POLICY. (a) The board of | |
14 | 14 | trustees of each school district shall adopt a policy regarding | |
15 | 15 | custodian workload for district facilities. The policy must | |
16 | 16 | establish benchmarks for the amount of square feet that may be | |
17 | 17 | assigned to a properly equipped school custodian for maintenance | |
18 | 18 | and custodial services during an eight-hour shift. | |
19 | 19 | (b) The board must provide benchmarks under Subsection (a) | |
20 | 20 | categorized by elementary, middle, and high school campuses, and | |
21 | 21 | other district facilities. | |
22 | 22 | (c) The school district shall post the policy adopted under | |
23 | 23 | this section on the school district's Internet website. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026 | |
25 | 25 | school year. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
27 | 27 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
28 | 28 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
29 | 29 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
30 | 30 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
