8	8	AN ACT
9	9	relating to a report by the Public Utility Commission of Texas on
10	10	disconnections of residential retail electric service.
11	11	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
12	12	SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 17, Utilities Code, is
13	13	amended by adding Section 17.054 to read as follows:
14	14	Sec. 17.054. SUMMER RESIDENTIAL SERVICE DISCONNECTION
15	15	REPORT. (a) Not later than June 1 of each year, the commission
16	16	shall create and publish on the commission's Internet website a
17	17	report of the total number of residential customers of retail
18	18	electric service in this state whose accounts are disconnected for
19	19	nonpayment of bills as of the date of the report. Until September
20	20	30 of each year, the commission shall update the report at least
21	21	weekly to show the total number of residential customers of retail
22	22	electric service whose accounts are disconnected for nonpayment of
23	23	bills at the time of the update.
24	24	(b) The commission by rule may require any entity under the
25	25	commission's jurisdiction that provides retail electric service to
26	26	a residential customer and any other market participant under the
27	27	commission's jurisdiction to submit to the commission information
28	28	necessary for the commission to comply with Subsection (a). The
29	29	rules must prescribe the nature and detail of the required
30	30	information.
31	31	SECTION 2. The Public Utility Commission of Texas shall
32	32	publish the first report required under Section 17.054, Utilities
33	33	Code, as added by this Act, not later than June 1, 2026.
34	34	SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
