A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to an annual school district profile report by the Texas
Education Agency.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 7, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 7.009 to read as follows:
Sec. 7.009. SCHOOL DISTRICT PROFILE REPORT. (a) Not later
than December 31 of each year, the agency shall prepare and make
available on the agency's Internet website a report that provides
an overview of public education at the state and school district
levels for the preceding school year.
(b) The report must:
(1) include multiple browsable and downloadable data
elements that:
(A) combine data into summary tables based on
specific characteristics of school districts; and
(B) provide specific data on individual school
districts;
(2) include a peer search function that allows a user
to group school districts by shared characteristics; and
(3) provide definitions for each data element and the
source of the data.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
