6	9		A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
7	10		AN ACT
8	11		relating to the election date for the authorization of the issuance
9	12		of bonds or a tax increase.
10	13		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
11	14		SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 41, Election Code, is
12	15		amended by adding Section 41.0051 to read as follows:
13	16		Sec. 41.0051. ELECTION TO ISSUE BONDS OR INCREASE TAXES.
14	17		(a) An election for the issuance of bonds or other debt or a tax
15	18		increase shall be held on the November uniform election date.
16	19		(b) Notwithstanding Section 41.0011, an election described
17	20		by Subsection (a) may not be held as an emergency election under
18	21		that section.
19	22		(c) If a law outside this code requires an election
20	23		described by Subsection (a) to be held on a date other than the
21	24		November uniform election date, the authority administering the
22	25		election shall set the election date to comply with this section.
23	26		SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
24	27		to an election ordered on or after the effective date of this Act.
25	28		An election ordered before the effective date of this Act is
26	29		governed by the law in effect when the election was ordered.
27	30		SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
