88 AN ACT
99 relating to monetary assistance provided by the Department of
1010 Family and Protective Services to certain parental child safety
1111 placement caregivers.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Subchapter L, Chapter 264, Family Code, is
1414 amended by adding Section 264.908 to read as follows:
1515 Sec. 264.908. CAREGIVER ASSISTANCE AGREEMENTS. (a) The
1616 department shall, subject to the availability of funds, enter into
1717 a caregiver assistance agreement under Section 264.755 with a
1818 caregiver who has a family income that is less than or equal to 300
1919 percent of the federal poverty level who enters into a parental
2020 child safety placement to provide monetary assistance to the
2121 caregiver for the duration of the parental child safety placement.
2222 (b) The department shall provide written notice to the
2323 parental child safety placement caregiver about the availability of
2424 and eligibility requirements for monetary assistance under this
2525 section at the earlier of the date:
2626 (1) the parental child safety placement agreement is
2727 signed; or
2828 (2) the child is placed with the caregiver.
2929 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
