12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
13 | 13 | SECTION 1. Subchapter L, Chapter 264, Family Code, is | |
14 | 14 | amended by adding Section 264.908 to read as follows: | |
15 | 15 | Sec. 264.908. CAREGIVER ASSISTANCE AGREEMENTS. (a) The | |
16 | 16 | department shall, subject to the availability of funds, enter into | |
17 | 17 | a caregiver assistance agreement under Section 264.755 with a | |
18 | 18 | caregiver who has a family income that is less than or equal to 300 | |
19 | 19 | percent of the federal poverty level who enters into a parental | |
20 | 20 | child safety placement to provide monetary assistance to the | |
21 | 21 | caregiver for the duration of the parental child safety placement. | |
22 | 22 | (b) The department shall provide written notice to the | |
23 | 23 | parental child safety placement caregiver about the availability of | |
24 | 24 | and eligibility requirements for monetary assistance under this | |
25 | 25 | section at the earlier of the date: | |
26 | 26 | (1) the parental child safety placement agreement is | |
27 | 27 | signed; or | |
28 | 28 | (2) the child is placed with the caregiver. | |
29 | 29 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
