| 10 | 15 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 16 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 752, Government Code, is amended by |

| 12 | 17 | | adding Subchapter D to read as follows: |

| 13 | 18 | | SUBCHAPTER D. STUDY ON IMPACT OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION |
|---|
| 14 | 19 | | Sec. 752.101. ANNUAL IMMIGRATION IMPACT STUDY. (a) The |
|---|
| 15 | 20 | | office of the governor shall conduct an annual study on the |
|---|
| 16 | 21 | | economic, environmental, and financial impact of illegal |
|---|
| 17 | 22 | | immigration in this state. |
|---|
| 18 | 23 | | (b) The office of the governor may collaborate or contract |
|---|
| 19 | 24 | | with a state or federal agency, a political subdivision, an |
|---|
| 20 | 25 | | institution of higher education, or a nonprofit organization or |
|---|
| 21 | 26 | | other private entity to assist in conducting the study required by |
|---|
| 22 | 27 | | this section. |
