611 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
712 AN ACT
813 relating to an annual study on the economic, environmental, and
914 financial impact of illegal immigration in this state.
1015 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1116 SECTION 1. Chapter 752, Government Code, is amended by
1217 adding Subchapter D to read as follows:
1318 SUBCHAPTER D. STUDY ON IMPACT OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
1419 Sec. 752.101. ANNUAL IMMIGRATION IMPACT STUDY. (a) The
1520 office of the governor shall conduct an annual study on the
1621 economic, environmental, and financial impact of illegal
1722 immigration in this state.
1823 (b) The office of the governor may collaborate or contract
1924 with a state or federal agency, a political subdivision, an
2025 institution of higher education, or a nonprofit organization or
2126 other private entity to assist in conducting the study required by
2227 this section.
23- (c) On request by the criminal justice division of the
24- office of the governor, the Office of Court Administration of the
25- Texas Judicial System shall coordinate with and provide information
26- to the division.
2728 Sec. 752.102. BIENNIAL REPORT. Not later than December 1 of
2829 each even-numbered year, the office of the governor shall prepare
2930 and submit to the lieutenant governor and legislature a report
3031 containing the results of each study conducted in the preceding two
3132 years under this subchapter.
3233 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
