| 10 | 15 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 16 | | SECTION 1. Section 41.0052, Election Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 12 | 17 | | adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |

| 13 | 18 | | (f) The governing body of a city with a population of 9,000 |
|---|
| 14 | 19 | | or less, located predominantly in a county that has a total area of |
|---|
| 15 | 20 | | less than 6,200 square miles, that has adopted a council-manager |
|---|
| 16 | 21 | | form of government and that holds its general election for officers |
|---|
| 17 | 22 | | on a date other than the November uniform election date may, not |
|---|
| 18 | 23 | | later than December 31, 2026, change the date on which it holds its |
|---|
| 19 | 24 | | general election for officers to the November uniform election |
|---|
| 20 | 25 | | date. Subsections (b), (c), and (d) apply to the change of an |
|---|
| 21 | 26 | | election date under this subsection. This subsection expires |
|---|
| 22 | 27 | | January 1, 2027. |

| 23 | 28 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 24 | 29 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 25 | 30 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 26 | 31 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |

| 27 | 32 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
