9+ SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
710 proposing a constitutional amendment to authorize the legislature
811 to exempt from ad valorem taxation a portion of the market value of
912 tangible personal property a person owns that is held or used for
1013 the production of income.
1114 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1215 SECTION 1. Section 1(g), Article VIII, Texas Constitution,
1316 is amended to read as follows:
1417 (g) The Legislature by general law may exempt from ad
1518 valorem taxation $25,000 of the market value of tangible personal
1619 property a person owns that is held or used for the production of
1720 income [and has a taxable value of less than the minimum amount
1821 sufficient to recover the costs of the administration of the taxes
1922 on the property, as determined by or under the general law granting
2023 the exemption].
2124 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
2225 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 4, 2025.
2326 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
2427 proposition: "The constitutional amendment to authorize the
2528 legislature to exempt from ad valorem taxation a portion of the
2629 market value of tangible personal property a person owns that is
2730 held or used for the production of income."
