11 | 14 | | Corps and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in business |

12 | 15 | | administration from the University of Southern Mississippi; and |

13 | 16 | | WHEREAS, He began his career in the oil and gas industry, |

14 | 17 | | and in 1986, he founded the oil country tubular goods wholesaler, |

15 | 18 | | Sim-Tex, which is still thriving today; and |

16 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A passionate advocate for education, Mr. Scianna |

17 | 20 | | believed wholeheartedly in investing in young people and the |

18 | 21 | | institutions that serve them; both the University of Southern |

19 | 22 | | Mississippi and William Carey University named campus buildings |

20 | 23 | | Scianna Hall in recognition of his contributions and generosity; |

21 | 24 | | he was also active in such worthy organizations as the Marine |

22 | 25 | | Corps Scholarship Foundation, Boys and Girls Country, and the |

23 | 26 | | University of Southern Mississippi's Foundation Board and |

25 | | - | WHEREAS, Mr. Scianna's outstanding achievements and public |

26 | | - | service were recognized with numerous prestigious accolades, |

27 | | - | including the Heritage Award from the Marine Corps Heritage |

36 | 40 | | ones, and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and |

37 | 41 | | altruism that will be treasured by all who were privileged to |

39 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |

40 | 44 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
