7+ SENATE RESOLUTION
58 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
69 commemorates the life of Charles "Chuck" Scianna Jr., who died
710 January 14, 2025, at the age of 71; and
811 WHEREAS, Chuck was born June 22, 1953, in Bay Saint Louis,
912 Mississippi; after graduating from Bay High School, he served his
1013 country with distinction as a member of the United States Marine
1114 Corps and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in business
1215 administration from the University of Southern Mississippi; and
1316 WHEREAS, He began his career in the oil and gas industry,
1417 and in 1986, he founded the oil country tubular goods wholesaler,
1518 Sim-Tex, which is still thriving today; and
1619 WHEREAS, A passionate advocate for education, Mr. Scianna
1720 believed wholeheartedly in investing in young people and the
1821 institutions that serve them; both the University of Southern
1922 Mississippi and William Carey University named campus buildings
2023 Scianna Hall in recognition of his contributions and generosity;
2124 he was also active in such worthy organizations as the Marine
2225 Corps Scholarship Foundation, Boys and Girls Country, and the
2326 University of Southern Mississippi's Foundation Board and
2427 Athletic Board; and
25- WHEREAS, Mr. Scianna's outstanding achievements and public
26- service were recognized with numerous prestigious accolades,
27- including the Heritage Award from the Marine Corps Heritage
28- Foundation, and he was honored by his alma mater with the College
29- of Business Entrepreneur of the Year award, an honorary
30- doctorate, and induction into the Alumni Hall of Fame; and
28+ WHEREAS, Mr. Scianna's outstanding achievements and
29+ public service were recognized with numerous prestigious
30+ accolades, including the Heritage Award from the Marine Corps
31+ Heritage Foundation, and he was honored by his alma mater with
32+ the College of Business Entrepreneur of the Year award, an
33+ honorary doctorate, and induction into the Alumni Hall of Fame;

3135 WHEREAS, Though his positive contributions to his
3236 community and his dedicated support of education were profound,
3337 Chuck's greatest pride and joy was his family; a devoted husband
3438 to Rita for 50 years, a loving father to Ashley and Stephanie, and
3539 a doting grandfather, Chuck cherished time spent with his loved
3640 ones, and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and
3741 altruism that will be treasured by all who were privileged to
3842 share in his life; now, therefore, be it
3943 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
4044 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
4145 family of Charles Scianna Jr.; and, be it further
4246 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4347 his family and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
4448 memory of Chuck Scianna.
