2	8		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	9		recognize the Montgomery Independent School District on the
4	10		occasion of its 100th anniversary; and
5	11		WHEREAS, In 1837, Dr. E. J. Arnold and C. E. Clepper
6	12		donated land to build the first public school in the burgeoning
7	13		town of Montgomery; citizens established the Montgomery School
8	14		Association in 1846, and the Texas Legislature in Senate Bill 441
9	15		formally established the Montgomery Independent School District
10	16		on March 16, 1925; and
11	17		WHEREAS, Despite facing significant challenges in its
12	18		first year of operation, the district gained widespread
13	19		community support and began to flourish through its affiliation
14	20		with the Texas Department of Education; the completion of Lake
15	21		Conroe in 1973 brought a wave of development to the region and
16	22		allowed the district to greatly expand its facilities and
17	23		educational opportunities for the community; and
18	24		WHEREAS, The Montgomery Independent School District has
19	25		grown from a single-room schoolhouse to a thriving educational
20	26		system with 11 campuses that serve nearly 10,000 students, and it
21	27		has preserved its fundamental small-town values while upholding
22	28		a commitment to academic excellence; and
23	29		WHEREAS, In recognition of its centennial year, the
24	30		Montgomery Independent School District is honoring its proud
25	31		history and paying tribute to the countless individuals who have
26	32		contributed to its success over the past 100 years; the district
27	33		remains dedicated to its mission of providing exceptional
28	34		educational experiences that prepare students for rewarding
29	35		futures, and it is truly fitting that it receive special
30	36		recognition as it reaches this exceptional milestone in its
31	37		history; now, therefore, be it
32	38		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
33	39		Legislature, hereby commend the teachers, administrators, and
34	40		staff of the Montgomery Independent School District on their
35	41		commitment to quality education and extend to all best wishes for
36	42		continued success; and, be it further
37	43		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
38	44		the district as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
