                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 186
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the Montgomery Independent School District on the
 occasion of its 100th anniversary; and
 WHEREAS, In 1837, Dr. E. J. Arnold and C. E. Clepper
 donated land to build the first public school in the burgeoning
 town of Montgomery; citizens established the Montgomery School
 Association in 1846, and the Texas Legislature in Senate Bill 441
 formally established the Montgomery Independent School District
 on March 16, 1925; and
 WHEREAS, Despite facing significant challenges in its
 first year of operation, the district gained widespread
 community support and began to flourish through its affiliation
 with the Texas Department of Education; the completion of Lake
 Conroe in 1973 brought a wave of development to the region and
 allowed the district to greatly expand its facilities and
 educational opportunities for the community; and
 WHEREAS, The Montgomery Independent School District has
 grown from a single-room schoolhouse to a thriving educational
 system with 11 campuses that serve nearly 10,000 students, and it
 has preserved its fundamental small-town values while upholding
 a commitment to academic excellence; and
 WHEREAS, In recognition of its centennial year, the
 Montgomery Independent School District is honoring its proud
 history and paying tribute to the countless individuals who have
 contributed to its success over the past 100 years; the district
 remains dedicated to its mission of providing exceptional
 educational experiences that prepare students for rewarding
 futures,anditistrulyfittingthatitreceivespecial
 recognition as it reaches this exceptional milestone in its
 history; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
 Legislature, hereby commend the teachers, administrators, and
 staff of the Montgomery Independent School District on their
 commitment to quality education and extend to all best wishes for
 continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the district as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
