                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 192
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Audubon Texas Day at the State Capitol on February 19,
 2025; and
 WHEREAS, Audubon Texas, the state office of the National
 Audubon Society, is dedicated to the conservation of birds,
 wildlife, and their habitats across the Lone Star State and has
 worked tirelessly to protect and restore vital ecosystems for
 more than a century; and
 WHEREAS, Audubon Texas leads innovative conservation
 efforts across the state, including managing a coastal island
 leasing program that safeguards 177 islands along the Texas
 coast; the organization operates four nature centers located in
 Dallas, Cedar Hill, San Antonio, and Brownsville and promotes
 conservation initiatives that benefit grasslands, wetlands, and
 urban environments; and
 WHEREAS, Home to more than 579 bird species, Texas is one
 of the most ecologically significant states for avian
 biodiversity, and Audubon Texas' efforts not only protect these
 species but also bolster the state's economy through ecotourism,
 birdwatching, and outdoor recreation and generate hundreds of
 millions of dollars annually; and
 WHEREAS, The National Audubon Society is celebrating its
 120th anniversary, which marks more than a century of leadership
 in bird and habitat conservation across the United States and
 reaffirms the society's commitment to bipartisan collaboration
 in crafting policies that support environmental stewardship; and
 WHEREAS, The mission of Audubon Texas and the National
 Audubon Society aligns with the principle that sound
 conservation policies at both the state and federal levels are
 crucial to ensuring the protection of birds, wildlife, and
 natural resources for future generations; and
 WHEREAS, The work of Audubon Texas exemplifies the
 interconnectedness of conservation efforts and demonstrates that
 the protection of local habitats directly contributes to
 national and global environmental resilience; and
 WHEREAS, Audubon Texas Day at the State Capitol serves as
 an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the organization's
 invaluable contributions to conservation and its ongoing efforts
 to ensure a thriving natural environment for both birds and
 people in Texas; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
 Legislature, hereby recognize February 19, 2025, as Audubon
 Texas Day at the State Capitol and honor the 120th anniversary of
 the National Audubon Society; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
 honor of this special occasion.
