2	8		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	9		join Texans across the state in celebrating March 5, 2025, as
4	10		Texas State Aquarium Day at the Capitol; and
5	11		WHEREAS, A private nonprofit organization, the Texas State
6	12		Aquarium is a favored tourist destination and a driving economic
7	13		force that helps to position Texas as a national leader in
8	14		wildlife resiliency and environmental education; and
9	15		WHEREAS, The Texas State Aquarium works to uphold the
10	16		state's commitment to wildlife conservation with much success
11	17		through the Center for Wildlife Rescue, which has emerged as the
12	18		nation's leading and largest wildlife rescue program; to date,
13	19		the center has rehabilitated and returned more than 5,000 land
14	20		and sea animals to their natural habitats; and
15	21		WHEREAS, To further its conservation efforts, the aquarium
16	22		works in partnership with multiple state and federal agencies to
17	23		monitor and manage emergency wildlife response activities
18	24		through its emergency operations Center, the nation's only
19	25		emergency center dedicated to wildlife disaster preparedness,
20	26		response, and recovery; and
21	27		WHEREAS, The aquarium's workforce development programs
22	28		have provided educational opportunities to more than 5,100
23	29		students and equip the next generation of conservationists and
24	30		professionals with the essential skills and knowledge they need
25	31		to become leaders in their fields; and
26	32		WHEREAS, The Texas State Aquarium encourages citizens to
27	33		appreciate the beauty, diversity, and vulnerability of marine
28	34		life, and in 2023, the institution contributed $195 million to
29	35		the state economy while supporting a workforce of more than 1,300
30	36		employees; this exemplary institution and all associated with
31	37		its efforts are indeed deserving of special recognition for their
32	38		dedication to environmental stewardship; now, therefore, be it
33	39		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
34	40		Legislature, hereby commend all who contribute to the aquarium's
35	41		success and recognize March 5, 2025, as Texas State Aquarium Day
36	42		at the Capitol; and, be it further
37	43		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
38	44		honor of this special occasion.
