SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 203
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
join Texans across the state in celebrating March 5, 2025, as
Texas State Aquarium Day at the Capitol; and
WHEREAS, A private nonprofit organization, the Texas State
Aquarium is a favored tourist destination and a driving economic
force that helps to position Texas as a national leader in
wildlife resiliency and environmental education; and
WHEREAS, The Texas State Aquarium works to uphold the
state's commitment to wildlife conservation with much success
through the Center for Wildlife Rescue, which has emerged as the
nation's leading and largest wildlife rescue program; to date,
the center has rehabilitated and returned more than 5,000 land
and sea animals to their natural habitats; and
WHEREAS, To further its conservation efforts, the aquarium
works in partnership with multiple state and federal agencies to
monitor and manage emergency wildlife response activities
through its emergency operations Center, the nation's only
emergency center dedicated to wildlife disaster preparedness,
response, and recovery; and
WHEREAS, The aquarium's workforce development programs
have provided educational opportunities to more than 5,100
students and equip the next generation of conservationists and
professionals with the essential skills and knowledge they need
to become leaders in their fields; and
WHEREAS, The Texas State Aquarium encourages citizens to
appreciate the beauty, diversity, and vulnerability of marine
life, and in 2023, the institution contributed $195 million to
the state economy while supporting a workforce of more than 1,300
employees; this exemplary institution and all associated with
its efforts are indeed deserving of special recognition for their
dedication to environmental stewardship; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
Legislature, hereby commend all who contribute to the aquarium's
success and recognize March 5, 2025, as Texas State Aquarium Day
at the Capitol; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this special occasion.
