58 WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
6- meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and
7- friends of Dennis Watters III of Willow Park, who passed away on
8- February 16, 2025, at the age of 81; and
9+ meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
10+ of Dennis Watters III of Willow Park, who passed away on February
11+ 16, 2025, at the age of 81; and
912 WHEREAS, Dennis Watters was born in Fort Worth on
10- December 17, 1943, and he spent much of his childhood in Lajitas
11- and the Big Bend area with his grandparents; he attended Sul Ross
12- State University on a bull riding scholarship and studied
13- geology; answering his nation's call to duty, he served for a
14- total of 28 years in the U.S. Army Reserve and the National Guard
15- and was deployed to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, during Operation
16- Desert Storm; and
13+ December 17, 1943, and he spent much of his childhood in Lajitas and
14+ the Big Bend area with his grandparents; he attended Sul Ross State
15+ University on a bull riding scholarship and studied geology;
16+ answering his nation's call to duty, he served for a total of 28
17+ years in the U.S. Army Reserve and the National Guard and was
18+ deployed to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, during Operation Desert
19+ Storm; and
1720 WHEREAS, While living in Fort Worth, Mr. Watters met his
1821 future wife, Sherry; the couple exchanged wedding vows on
1922 December 15, 1972, and they shared a rewarding marriage that
20- spanned more than five decades; they raised two children, John
21- and Michelle, and later welcomed a granddaughter into their
22- family; Mr. Watters gave generously of his time to Westridge
23- Baptist Church in Fort Worth, where he led Sunday school classes
24- and provided assistance to the church youth group; in 1987, he
25- and his family moved to Weatherford and became members of Peaster
26- Baptist Church; Mr. Watters also served that congregation, and
27- most recently, he attended Willow Park Baptist Church; and
28- WHEREAS, In his later years, Mr. Watters discovered a
29- passion for motorcycles; he belonged to the Koinonia Riders in
30- Weatherford, a chapter of the Christian Motorcyclists
31- Association, and he enjoyed riding through the Texas Hill
32- Country; and
33- WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share in this
34- esteemed man's love and friendship will always remember him with
35- great admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it
36- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
37- Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Dennis Watters III
38- and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to
39- his wife, Sherry Watters; to his children, John David and
40- Michelle Leigh; to his granddaughter, Taylor Paige; and to his
41- other relatives and friends; and, be it further

44- this day, it do so in memory of Dennis Watters.
