SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 253 In Memory of Loy Gordon WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the passing of Loy Gordon of Kilgore on January 22, 2025, at the age of 88; and WHEREAS, The son of Lucille and Gus Gordon, Loy Gordon was born in Kilgore on September 27, 1936, and he grew up with the companionship of three brothers, Wayne, Terry, and Charley, and a sister, Joan; and WHEREAS, Mr. Gordon attended Kilgore schools and went on to devote many years of his life to the family business, Gus Gordon and Son House Movers, and played an important role in its success; he later enjoyed working as a greeter at the Walmart in Kilgore; and WHEREAS, A man of deep faith, Mr. Gordon was a member of Trinity Assembly of God, where his wife of 69 years, Nona, played the piano during church services; over the course of the couple's marriage, they were blessed with 2 daughters, Cindy and Charlotte, and their family later grew to include 5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mr. Gordon was an avid sports fan who rooted for the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers, and he took pleasure in fishing, playing tennis, and bowling; he coached Little League Baseball, and he supported his grandchildren at their sporting events, graduations, and other important activities; and WHEREAS, Although Loy Gordon will be deeply missed, he has left his family and friends with a wealth of memories that they will forever treasure; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Loy Gordon and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, Nona Gordon; to his children, Cindy Allen and her husband, Lennie, and Charlotte Mobbs and her husband, Kenny; to his brother, Charley Gordon, and his wife, Kathy; to his sister, Joan Long; to his grandchildren, Jason, James, Nate, Natalie, and Jessica; to his great-grandchildren, Codi, Bailee, Presley, Jaxxon, Jessie, Archer, Alana, Kinley, Colt, Nolan, Brynn, Sophia, and Peyton; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Loy Gordon.
