SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 277 WHEREAS, Dr. Gene Getz is serving as Chaplain of the Day for the Texas Senate on March 19, 2025; and WHEREAS, In 1972, Dr. Getz began his involvement in church planting and launched the Fellowship Bible Church movement, which has led to the establishment of hundreds of congregations throughout the nation, including several in the Dallas area; he currently serves as president of the Center for Church Renewal, a nonprofit organization he started in 1978, and he is pastor emeritus of Chase Oaks Church in Plano; and WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the pastorate, Dr. Getz completed work on his interactive Life Essentials Study Bible, which is used by people around the world and has also been released in Spanish; furthermore, he produces Bible Principles, a daily radio broadcast that airs on a number of stations, and he is the author of more than 60 books, including The Measure of a Man: Twenty Attributes of a Godly Man; and WHEREAS, Dr. Getz graduated from Moody Bible Institute, and he later taught there and at Dallas Theological Seminary; he holds a master's degree from Wheaton College Graduate School and a Ph.D. from New York University; and WHEREAS, Dr. Gene Getz exemplifies the highest standards of his vocation, and he has inspired innumerable Texans through his message of faith and goodwill; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th Legislature, hereby honor Dr. Gene Getz for his service as Chaplain of the Day and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in his important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Dr. Getz as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
