SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 278 WHEREAS, Proud residents of Grayson County are gathering in Austin on March 18, 2025, in celebration of Grayson County Day at the State Capitol; and WHEREAS, Established in 1846, Grayson County has evolved from its agricultural roots into a thriving center for manufacturing, commerce, and technological advancement, all while preserving its heritage and maintaining its unique character; and WHEREAS, The City of Sherman, the heart of Grayson County as well as its county seat, has attracted significant interest from major corporations, and it was selected as the location for new multimillion-dollar production facilities for Texas Instruments, Coherent, Easy Foods, Molinos USA, and Persys; moreover, Sunny Delight received an investment of $38 million for machinery and equipment upgrades at its Sherman plant, and Tyson Foods invested $30 million in upgrades at its local facility; in addition, GlobalWafers America has committed $5 billion to a project to manufacture silicon wafers in Sherman, an endeavor that will further solidify the city's presence in the semiconductor industry; and WHEREAS, These investments are the result of strong collaboration among local leadership at the City of Sherman, Grayson County, the Sherman Economic Development Corporation, and Workforce Solutions Texoma; together, they have facilitated the creation of jobs and the cultivation of a growing talent pipeline through partnerships with Austin College, Grayson College, and the Sherman Independent School District; and WHEREAS, By fostering entrepreneurship, workforce development, and small business growth, Grayson County and the City of Sherman have set a standard for sustainable economic progress and regional collaboration, and these efforts are helping to ensure the long-term prosperity of the community and its residents; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th Legislature, hereby recognize March 18, 2025, as Grayson County Day at the State Capitol and extend sincere appreciation to all those individuals and organizations involved in promoting the economic vitality of the region; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for the county as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
