2	8		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay
3	9		tribute to Alicia Canales Gonzalez on the grand occasion of her
4	10		100th birthday, a remarkable milestone that reflects a lifetime
5	11		of love, service, and cherished memories; and
6	12		WHEREAS, Born March 26, 1925, in Hebbronville, Alicia was
7	13		the ninth of 11 children of Santos and Amalia Ramos Canales; in
8	14		1949, she married the love of her life, Jose G. "Joe" Gonzalez,
9	15		with whom she shared a deep and enduring partnership; they were
10	16		blessed with two daughters, Irma Alicia Salinas and Linda Jo
11	17		Soliz, and she cherishes her role in her growing legacy of four
12	18		grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one
13	19		great-great-grandchild; and
14	20		WHEREAS, A woman of strength and resilience, Alicia
15	21		stepped forward to serve as Jim Hogg County treasurer after her
16	22		husband's passing; her commitment to her community extends
17	23		beyond her time in public service, as she has been a lifelong
18	24		member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Parish and an
19	25		active participant in many church organizations, including the
20	26		Mother's Club, the Guadalupanas, the Franciscanas, and the
21	27		Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez groups; and
22	28		WHEREAS, Alicia has always brought joy to those around her
23	29		through her warmth and engaging personality, her quick wit, and
24	30		her love of tradition, which she embodied as a member of the
25	31		Folclórico Dance Group at the Jim Hogg County Elderly Nutrition
26	32		Center; her kindness and sense of humor have made her a widely
27	33		beloved figure among her loved ones and in the Hebbronville
28	34		community; and
29	35		WHEREAS, On March 29, 2025, family and friends will gather
30	36		to celebrate this extraordinary woman and the century of wisdom,
31	37		laughter, and love she has shared with her many loved ones; now,
32	38		therefore, be it
33	39		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
34		-	Legislature, hereby honor Alicia Canales Gonzalez on the occasion
35		-	of her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for
36		-	continued happiness and treasured moments; and, be it further
