	7	+	SENATE RESOLUTION
2	8		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	9		join La India Packing Company of Laredo in celebrating the
4	10		unveiling of its official Texas Historical Marker and the
5	11		company's 101st anniversary on April 26, 2025; and
6	12		WHEREAS, La India Packing Company was founded in 1924 by
7	13		Antonio Rodriguez and his wife, Antonia Villareal Martinez de
8	14		Rodriguez; originally a small general store on Marcella Avenue,
9	15		the company expanded and adapted its inventory to create the
10	16		delicious spice blends that have become a culinary staple of
11	17		South Texas cuisine; and
12	18		WHEREAS, Today, many of Don Antonio's famous blends, such
13	19		as his spices, chorizo, menudo, and chocolate, can be found at
14	20		grocery stores across the state, and many of the company's
15	21		products are shipped and sold across the world; and
16	22		WHEREAS, This exemplary business is still owned and
17	23		operated by descendants of Antonio and Antonia Rodriguez who
18	24		continue to manufacture delicious products, many with herbal and
19	25		medicinal properties, under the exacting standards established
20	26		by the founders; and
21	27		WHEREAS, A mainstay of the community, La India Packing
22	28		Company has catered to the hearts and palates of Laredo residents
23	29		and consumers worldwide for more than a century, and it is truly
24	30		fitting that it is being honored with a historical marker; now,
25	31		therefore, be it
26	32		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
27	33		Legislature, hereby commend the owners, management, and staff of
28	34		La India Packing Company on their continuing commitment to
29	35		quality and value and extend to all best wishes for a rewarding
30	36		Texas Historical Marker unveiling and a memorable anniversary
31	37		celebration; and, be it further
32	38		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
33	39		the company as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
