SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 392 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join La India Packing Company of Laredo in celebrating the unveiling of its official Texas Historical Marker and the company's 101st anniversary on April 26, 2025; and WHEREAS, La India Packing Company was founded in 1924 by Antonio Rodriguez and his wife, Antonia Villareal Martinez de Rodriguez; originally a small general store on Marcella Avenue, the company expanded and adapted its inventory to create the delicious spice blends that have become a culinary staple of South Texas cuisine; and WHEREAS, Today, many of Don Antonio's famous blends, such as his spices, chorizo, menudo, and chocolate, can be found at grocery stores across the state, and many of the company's products are shipped and sold across the world; and WHEREAS, This exemplary business is still owned and operated by descendants of Antonio and Antonia Rodriguez who continue to manufacture delicious products, many with herbal and medicinal properties, under the exacting standards established by the founders; and WHEREAS, A mainstay of the community, La India Packing Company has catered to the hearts and palates of Laredo residents and consumers worldwide for more than a century, and it is truly fitting that it is being honored with a historical marker; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th Legislature, hereby commend the owners, management, and staff of La India Packing Company on their continuing commitment to quality and value and extend to all best wishes for a rewarding Texas Historical Marker unveiling and a memorable anniversary celebration; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the company as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
