 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Mark Garcia has served the Texas Legislature as
 Senate auditor for 25 years; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia is a graduate of Concordia University
 Texas, where he played baseball as a left-handed pitcher and
 designated hitter; during his collegiate baseball career, he set 2
 school records and hit more than 20 home runs, all while earning his
 bachelor's degree in accounting; he began his professional career
 with the State Auditor's Office, where he conducted financial and
 performance reviews of agencies, schools, and universities; after
 six years, he accepted a position with the Texas Comptroller of
 Public Accounts; his responsibilities included teaching others the
 state accounting system and assisting with the Comprehensive Annual
 Financial Report during busy seasons; and
 WHEREAS, In January 2000, Mr. Garcia was hired as Senate
 auditor; he has demonstrated exceptional skill, diligence, and
 dedication while budgeting for Senate offices; moreover, his
 kindness and sense of humor have brightened the days for his
 colleagues and have brought him many friendships in the Capitol
 community; since 2004, he has played in the Senate Christmas band,
 the Gaveltones, and in 2024, his daughter, Brianna, shared the
 stage at the holiday party; he also helps make chili to fund this
 annual event; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia has further benefited his fellow citizens
 by participating numerous times in the Texas MS 150 bicycle
 fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, riding with
 the General Land Office's team; in all his endeavors, he is
 supported by the love and encouragement of his wife, Marlina, and he
 takes great pride in his two children, Brianna and Alex, and his two
 stepchildren, Aidan and William; and
 WHEREAS, Through his professionalism, expertise, and
 commitment to excellence, Mark Garcia has made significant
 contributions to the Texas Senate, and he is truly deserving of
 special recognition; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
 hereby honor Mark Garcia for his 25 years of service as Texas Senate
 auditor and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 Senate.
