10		-	Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of
11		-	the United States of America in Congress assembled,
12		-	SECTION 1. SECURITY OF OFFICE SPACE RENTED BY SENATORS.
13		-	Section 3 of the Legislative Branch Appropriation Act, 1975
14		-	(2 U.S.C. 6317) is amended—
15		-	(1) in subsection (b)—
16		-	(A) by redesignating paragraphs (1) through (12) as
17		-	subparagraphs (A) through (L), respectively;
18		-	(B) by striking ‘‘The aggregate’’ and inserting ‘‘(1) Sub-
19		-	ject to paragraph (2), the aggregate’’; and
20		-	(C) by adding at the end the following:
21		-	‘‘(2) The aggregate square feet of office space for purposes
22		-	of paragraph (1) shall not include any portion of the office space
23		-	used for security or safety enhancements that are—
24		-	‘‘(A) of a kind authorized by the Committee on Rules and
25		-	Administration of the Senate, which shall include an informa-
26		-	tion technology security closet and a secure lobby or reception
27		-	area; and
28		-	‘‘(B) approved by the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper
29		-	of the Senate.’’; and
30		-	(2) in subsection (c)(1)—
31		-	(A) by striking ‘‘The maximum’’ and inserting ‘‘(A) Sub-
32		-	ject to subparagraph (B), the maximum’’; and
33		-	(B) by adding at the end the following:
34		-	‘‘(B) The portion of the cost of a rental described in subpara-
35		-	graph (A) that is attributable to building security and safety meas-
36		-	ures shall not be included in determining the annual rate paid
37		-	for the rental for purposes of subparagraph (A) if—
38		-	‘‘(i) the costs are for building security and safety meas-
39		-	ures—
40		-	‘‘(I) of a kind authorized by the Committee on Rules
41		-	and Administration of the Senate, which shall include
42		-	guard services, access control, and facility monitoring; and S. 3222—2
43		-	‘‘(II) approved by the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper
44		-	of the Senate; and
45		-	‘‘(ii) such costs are itemized separately in a manner
46		-	approved by the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper of the
47		-	Senate.’’.
