Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Protect Our Letter 4 Carriers Act of 2025’’. 5 SEC. 2. FUNDS TO UPGRADE COLLECTION BOXES. 6 There is authorized to be appropriated 7 $1,400,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2026 through 8 2030 to the United States Postal Service to carry out, as 9 determined by the United States Postal Service— 10 (1) the installation of high security collection 11 boxes; and 12 (2) the replacement of older versions of the uni-13 versal mailbox key, also known as the arrow key, 14 with electronic versions. 15 SEC. 4. COORDINATION OF PROSECUTION OF OFFENSES 16 AGAINST THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERV-17 ICE. 18 (a) I NGENERAL.—Section 542 of title 28, United 19 States Code, is amended by adding at the end the fol-20 lowing: 21 ‘‘(c) The Attorney General shall, in consultation with 22 the United States attorney for the district, appoint in each 23 judicial district an assistant United States attorney with 24 principal responsibility in the district to coordinate and 25 VerDate Sep 11 2014 03:59 Mar 05, 2025 Jkt 059200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H1065.IH H1065 ssavage on LAPJG3WLY3PROD with BILLS 3 •HR 1065 IH supervise the investigation and prosecution of alleged of-1 fenses committed— 2 ‘‘(1) in violation of chapter 83 of title 18; 3 ‘‘(2) in violation of sections 2115, 2116, or 4 2117 of title 18; or 5 ‘‘(3) against a carrier or person entrusted with 6 the mail and having custody thereof, in violation of 7 section 111 of title 18.’’. 8 (b) D EADLINE FOR COMPLIANCE.—The Attorney 9 General shall comply with section 542(c) of title 28, 10 United States Code, not later than 1 year after the date 11 of the enactment of this Act. 12 SEC. 5.
