2121 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Space Infrastructure 4
2222 Act’’. 5
2323 SEC. 2. SPACE SYSTEMS, SERVICES, AND TECHNOLOGY AS 6
2424 CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE. 7

2626 NGENERAL.—Not later than 30 days after the 8
2727 date of the enactment of this section, the Secretary shall 9

3131 designate space systems, services, and technology as a crit-1
3232 ical infrastructure sector. 2
3333 (b) G
3434 UIDANCE.—Not later than 180 days after the 3
3535 date of the enactment of this section, the Secretary, in 4
3636 consultation with relevant agencies and departments of 5
3737 the Federal Government, the Assistant to the President 6
3838 for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, relevant 7
3939 Federal advisory committees, and the Executive Director, 8
4040 shall issue guidance with respect to designating space sys-9
4141 tems, services, and technology as critical infrastructure, 10
4242 including the following: 11
4343 (1) Defining the scope of such sector, with con-12
4444 sideration of satellites and space vehicles, space-re-13
4545 lated terrestrial systems and launch infrastructure, 14
4646 space-related production facilities, and applicable in-15
4747 formation technology. 16
4848 (2) Designating a Sector-Specific Agency for 17
4949 such sector. 18
5050 (3) Identifying appropriate committees and 19
5151 advisories to accompany such sector, including Gov-20
5252 ernment Coordinating Councils and Sector Coordi-21
5353 nating Councils. 22

5555 EPORT.—Not later than 90 days after the Sec-23
5656 retary issues guidance pursuant to subsection (b), the Sec-24

6666 ONFORMINGAMENDMENTS.—Section 2001(3) 6
6767 of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 (6 U.S.C. 601(3)) 7
6868 is amended— 8
6969 (1) by redesignating subparagraphs (O), (P), 9
7070 and (Q) as (P), (Q), and (R), respectively; and 10
7171 (2) by inserting after subparagraph (N) the fol-11
7272 lowing new subparagraph: 12
7373 ‘‘(O) Space systems, services, and technology.’’. 13

7878 TEES.—The term ‘‘appropriate congressional com-16

8181 of the House of Representatives; and 19
8282 (B) the Committee on Homeland Security 20
8383 and Governmental Affairs of the Senate. 21

8585 RITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE .—The term 22
8686 ‘‘critical infrastructure’’ has the meaning given such 23
8787 term in section 1016(e) of the USA Patriot Act of 24
8888 2001 (42 U.S.C. 5195c(e)). 25
