Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS FOR RUSLANA 3 MELNYK AND VIKAS TOMAR. 4 (a) I NGENERAL.—Notwithstanding subsections (a) 5 and (b) of section 201 of the Immigration and Nationality 6 Act, Ruslana Melnyk and Mykhaylo Gnatyuk shall each 7 be eligible for issuance of an immigrant visa or for adjust-8 ment of the status to that of an alien lawfully admitted 9 for permanent residence upon filing an application for 10 issuance of an immigrant visa under section 204 of such 11 VerDate Sep 11 2014 22:07 Feb 19, 2025 Jkt 059200 PO 00000 Frm 00001 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H1445.IH H1445 ssavage on LAPJG3WLY3PROD with BILLS 2 •HR 1445 IH Act or for adjustment of status to lawful permanent resi-1 dent. 2 (b) A DJUSTMENT OF STATUS.—If Ruslana Melnyk 3 and Mykhaylo Gnatyuk enter the United States before the 4 filing deadline specific in subsection (c), he or she shall 5 be considered to have entered and remained lawfully and 6 shall, if otherwise eligible, be eligible for adjustment of 7 status under section 245 of the Immigration and Nation-8 ality Act as of the date of the enactment of this Act. 9 (c) D EADLINE FORAPPLICATION ANDPAYMENT OF 10 F EES.—Subsections (a) and (b) shall apply only if the ap-11 plication for issuance of an immigrant visa or the applica-12 tion for adjustment of status is filed with appropriate fees 13 within 2 years after the date of the enactment of this Act. 14 (d) R EDUCTION OF IMMIGRANTVISANUMBER.— 15 Upon the granting of an immigrant visa or permanent res-16 idence to Ruslana Melnyk and Mykhaylo Gnatyuk the Sec-17 retary of State shall instruct the proper officer to reduce 18 by 2, during the current or next following fiscal year, the 19 total number of immigrant visas that are made available 20 to natives of the country of the aliens’ birth under section 21 203(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act or, if appli-22 cable, the total number of immigrant visas that are made 23 available to natives of the country of the aliens’ birth 24 under section 202(e) of such Act. 25 VerDate Sep 11 2014 22:07 Feb 19, 2025 Jkt 059200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H1445.IH H1445 ssavage on LAPJG3WLY3PROD with BILLS 3 •HR 1445 IH (e) DENIAL OF PREFERENTIAL IMMIGRATION 1 T REATMENT FOR CERTAINRELATIVES.—The natural 2 parents, brothers, and sisters of Ruslana Melnyk and 3 Mykhaylo Gnatyuk shall not, by virtue of such relation-4 ship, be accorded any right, privilege, or status under the 5 Immigration and Nationality Act. 6 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 22:07 Feb 19, 2025 Jkt 059200 PO 00000 Frm 00003 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\H1445.IH H1445 ssavage on LAPJG3WLY3PROD with BILLS
