2222 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘One Seat Ride Act’’. 4
2323 SEC. 2. STUDY ON COMMUTER SERVICE. 5
2424 (a) I
2525 NGENERAL.—The Secretary of Transportation 6
2626 shall conduct a study identifying the benefits of commuter 7
2727 rail passenger transportation and major obstacles to pro-8

3333 (b) R
3434 EQUIREMENTS.—In conducting the study under 3
3535 subsection (a), the Secretary shall— 4
3636 (1) consider economic, logistical, and quality of 5
3737 life factors in analyzing the major obstacles to im-6
3838 plementing single-seat trips on commuter rail pas-7
3939 senger transportation for as many passengers as 8
4040 possible; and 9
4141 (2) include in such study an analysis of the 10
4242 costs and benefits with respect to single-seat trips on 11
4343 commuter rail passenger transportation on the New 12
4444 Jersey Transit Raritan Valley line during peak 13
4545 hours and the impact such trips would have on other 14
4646 New Jersey Transit lines. 15
4747 (c) R
4848 EPORT.—Not later than 1 year after the date 16
4949 of enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall submit to 17
5050 the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of 18
5151 the House of Representatives and the Committee on 19
5252 Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs of the Senate a re-20
5353 port on the study required under subsection (a). 21
