2525 NGENERAL.—Section 3(a)(5) of the Consumer 8
2626 Product Safety Act (15 U.S.C. 2052(a)(5)) is amended 9

3434 UTHORIZATION OFAPPROPRIATIONS.— 4

3636 N GENERAL.—In addition to amounts oth-5
3737 erwise authorized to be appropriated to the Con-6
3838 sumer Product Safety Commission, there is author-7
3939 ized to be appropriated to the Commission each fis-8
4040 cal year for activities relating to covered devices 9
4141 $11,500,000, of which— 10
4242 (A) $5,000,000 each fiscal year is author-11
4343 ized to be appropriated exclusively for activities 12
4444 relating to covered devices not permanently 13
4545 fixed to a site; and 14
4646 (B) $6,500,000 each fiscal year is author-15
4747 ized to be appropriated exclusively for activities 16
4848 relating to covered devices permanently fixed to 17
4949 a site. 18

5151 OVERED DEVICE DEFINED .—In this sub-19
5252 section, the term ‘‘covered device’’ means a mechan-20
5353 ical device which carries or conveys passengers 21
5454 along, around, or over a fixed or restricted route or 22
5555 course or within a defined area for the purpose of 23
5656 giving its passengers amusement, which is custom-24
5757 arily controlled or directed by an individual who is 25
