2929 TUDY.—The Secretary of Health and Human 3
3030 Services (in this section referred to as the ‘‘Secretary’’), 4
3131 pursuant to section 1121(a) of the Public Health Service 5
3232 Act (42 U.S.C. 300c–11(a)), shall conduct a study on the 6
3333 use of home cardiorespiratory monitors for infants in rela-7
3434 tion to the prevention of sudden unexpected infant death 8
3535 (as defined in section 1121(e) of such Act (42 U.S.C. 9
3636 300c–11(e))). 10
3737 (b) R
3838 EPORT.—Not later than 1 year after the date 11
3939 of enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall submit to 12
4040 Congress a report describing the results of the study under 13
4141 subsection (a). Such report shall include the following: 14
4242 (1) Evidence on the effectiveness, performance, 15
4343 and accuracy of home cardiorespiratory monitors 16
4444 that track the heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and 17
4545 other vital signs of an infant. 18
4646 (2) New models of care to improve the home 19
4747 sleeping environment of an infant, including the use 20
4848 of cardiorespiratory monitors. 21
4949 (3) Health care plan criteria for medically ap-22
5050 propriate coverage for a home cardiorespiratory 23
5151 monitor. 24
5252 (4) Recommendations on whether home cardio-25
5353 respiratory monitors have shown product efficacy 26
