A BILL 
To direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to 
conduct a review to evaluate the status of research on 
lung cancer in women and underserved populations, and 
for other purposes. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Women and Lung Can-4
cer Research and Preventive Services Act of 2025’’. 5

SEC. 2. INTERAGENCY REVIEW TO EVALUATE AND IDEN-1
TIFY OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE ACCELERA-2
TION OF RESEARCH ON LUNG CANCER IN 3
WOMEN AND UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS, 4
GREATER ACCESS TO PREVENTIVE SERV-5
ICES, AND STRATEGIC PUBLIC AWARENESS 6
AND EDUCATION CAMPAIGNS. 7
(a) I
NGENERAL.—The Secretary of Health and 8
Human Services, in consultation with the Secretary of De-9
fense and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, shall conduct 10
an interagency review to evaluate the status of, and iden-11
tify opportunities for the acceleration of research related 12
to— 13
(1) research on lung cancer in women; 14
(2) research on lung cancer in underserved pop-15
ulations that meet the eligibility criteria for lung 16
cancer screening as recommended by the United 17
States Preventive Services Task Force; 18
(3) access to lung cancer preventive services; 19
and 20
(4) strategic public awareness and education 21
campaigns on lung cancer. 22
(b) C
ONTENT.—The review and recommendations 23
under subsection (a) shall include— 24
(1) a review and comprehensive report on the 25
outcomes of previous research, the status of existing 26

research activities, and knowledge gaps related to 1
lung cancer in women and underserved populations 2
in all agencies of the Federal Government; 3
(2) opportunities for collaborative, interagency, 4
multidisciplinary, and innovative research, that 5
would— 6
(A) encourage innovative approaches to 7
eliminate knowledge gaps in research on lung 8
cancer in women; 9
(B) evaluate environmental and genomic 10
factors that may be related to the etiology of 11
lung cancer in women; and 12
(C) foster advances in imaging technology 13
and techniques to improve risk assessment, di-14
agnosis, treatment, and the simultaneous utili-15
zation of other preventive services and activi-16
ties; 17
(3) opportunities regarding the development of 18
a national lung cancer screening strategy to expand 19
access to such screenings, particularly among women 20
and underserved populations; and 21
(4) opportunities regarding the development of 22
a national public education and awareness campaign 23
on— 24

(A) lung cancer in women and underserved 1
populations; and 2
(B) the importance of early detection of 3
lung cancer. 4
(c) R
EPORT.—Not later than two years after the date 5
of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Health and 6
Human Services shall submit to Congress a report on the 7
review conducted under subsection (a). 8
