in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the juris-
diction of the committee concerned 
A BILL 
To authorize the Secretary of Agriculture and the Secretary 
of the Interior to permit removal of trees around elec-
trical lines on National Forest System lands and Bureau 
of Land Management lands, respectively, without con-
ducting a timber sale, and for other purposes. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Fire Safe Electrical 4
Corridors Act of 2025’’. 5

SEC. 2. PERMITS AND AGREEMENTS WITH ELECTRICAL 1
UTILITIES. 2
(a) I
NGENERAL.—In any special use permit or ease-3
ment on covered Federal lands provided to an electrical 4
utility, the Secretary concerned may provide permission to 5
cut and remove trees or other vegetation from within the 6
vicinity of distribution lines or transmission lines without 7
requiring a separate timber sale, if that cutting and re-8
moval is consistent with— 9
(1) any applicable land and resource manage-10
ment plan; and 11
(2) other applicable environmental laws (includ-12
ing regulations). 13
(b) U
SE OFPROCEEDS.—A special use permit or 14
easement that includes permission for cutting and removal 15
described in subsection (a) shall include a requirement 16
that, if the applicable electrical utility sells any portion 17
of the material removed under the permit or easement, 18
the electrical utility shall provide to the Secretary con-19
cerned any proceeds received from the sale, less any trans-20
portation costs incurred in the sale. 21
(c) E
FFECT.—Nothing in subsection (b) shall require 22
the sale of any material removed under a permit or ease-23
ment that includes permission for cutting and removal de-24
scribed in subsection (a). 25

EFINITIONS.—In this section: 26

(1) COVERED FEDERAL LANDS .—The term 1
‘‘covered Federal lands’’ means— 2
(A) National Forest System lands; and 3
(B) lands managed by the Bureau of Land 4
Management. 5
(2) S
ECRETARY CONCERNED .—The term ‘‘Sec-6
retary concerned’’ means— 7
(A) with respect to National Forest Sys-8
tem lands, the Secretary of Agriculture, acting 9
through the Chief of the Forest Service; and 10
(B) with respect to lands managed by the 11
Bureau of Land Management, the Secretary of 12
the Interior, acting through the Director of the 13
Bureau of Land Management. 14
