1818 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
1919 SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
2020 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Head start Education 4
2121 And Development Workforce Advancement and Yield Act’’ 5
2222 or the ‘‘HEADWAY Act’’. 6
2323 SEC. 2. TEACHERS IN EARLY HEAD START PROGRAMS. 7
2424 Section 645A(h) of the Head Start Act (42 U.S.C. 8
2525 9840a(h)) is amended— 9

5858 teacher is working towards earning that creden-2
5959 tial and completing that training or coursework, 3
6060 the Early Head Start agency employing the 4
6161 teacher shall provide a mentor to oversee the 5
6262 progress and guide the work of the teacher to-6
6363 wards earning that credential and completing 7
6464 that training or coursework; and’’; and 8
6565 (4) in paragraph (3), as so redesignated— 9
6666 (A) by striking ‘‘not later than September 10
6767 30, 2012, all such teachers’’ and inserting ‘‘at 11
6868 least one teacher per classroom providing direct 12
6969 services to children and families described in 13
7070 paragraph (1) has’’; 14
