SHORT TITLE. 1 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘CBO Show Your Work 2 Act’’. 3 SEC. 2. PUBLICATION OF CONGRESSIONAL BUDGET OFFICE 4 MODELS. 5 (a) I NGENERAL.—Section 402 of the Congressional 6 Budget Act of 1974 (2 U.S.C. 653) is amended— 7 (1) by striking ‘‘The Director’’ and inserting 8 the following: 9 ‘‘(a) I NGENERAL.—The Director’’; and 10 (2) by adding at the end the following: 11 ‘‘(b) P UBLICATION OFMODELS ANDDATA.—The Di-12 rector of the Congressional Budget Office shall make 13 available to Members of Congress and make publicly avail-14 able on the website of the Congressional Budget Office— 15 ‘‘(1) each fiscal model, policy model, and data 16 preparation routine used by the Congressional Budg-17 et Office in estimating the costs and other fiscal, so-18 cial, or economic effects of legislation, including esti-19 mates prepared under subsection (a); 20 ‘‘(2) any update of a model or routine described 21 in paragraph (1); 22 ‘‘(3) subject to paragraph (4), for each estimate 23 of the costs and other fiscal effects of legislation, in-24 cluding estimates prepared under subsection (a), the 25 data, programs, models, assumptions, and other de-26 VerDate Sep 11 2014 01:20 Feb 20, 2025 Jkt 059200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H724.IH H724 kjohnson on DSK7ZCZBW3PROD with $$_JOB 3 •HR 724 IH tails of the computations used by the Congressional 1 Budget Office in preparing the estimate, in a man-2 ner sufficient to permit replication by individuals not 3 employed by the Congressional Budget Office; and 4 ‘‘(4) for any data that is required not to be dis-5 closed by the Congressional Budget Office— 6 ‘‘(A) a complete list of all data variables 7 for such data; 8 ‘‘(B) descriptive statistics for all data vari-9 ables for such data (including averages, stand-10 ard deviations, number of observations, and cor-11 relations to other variables), to the extent that 12 the descriptive statistics do not violate the rule 13 against disclosure; 14 ‘‘(C) a reference to the statute requiring 15 that the data not be disclosed; and 16 ‘‘(D) information regarding how to contact 17 the individual or entity who has unrestricted ac-18 cess to the data.’’. 19 (b) E FFECTIVEDATE.—The amendments made by 20 subsection (a) shall apply on and after the date that is 21 6 months after the date of enactment of this Act. 22 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 01:20 Feb 20, 2025 Jkt 059200 PO 00000 Frm 00003 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\H724.IH H724 kjohnson on DSK7ZCZBW3PROD with $$_JOB
