3939 N GENERAL.—Section 502 of the Federal 6
4040 Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (21 U.S.C. 352) is 7
4141 amended by adding at the end the following: 8
4242 ‘‘(hh) If it is the drug mifepristone, and its labeling 9
4343 does not bear the following statement printed in con-10
4444 spicuous text: ‘WARNING: Medical evidence suggests that 11
4545 the abortifacient effects of mifepristone can be counter-12
4646 acted by natural progesterone, which can increase the 13
4747 chance of fetal survival. The American Society for Repro-14
4848 ductive Medicine has determined that natural progester-15
4949 one is safe in the first trimester of pregnancy. For more 16
5050 information, call [lll].’ (with the blank filled in to 17
5151 refer to the appropriate number for the hotline under sec-18
5252 tion 1009 of the Public Health Service Act).’’. 19

5454 FFECTIVE DATE.—Section 502(hh) of the 20
5555 Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (as added by 21
5656 paragraph (1)) applies beginning on the date that is 22
5757 6 months after the date of enactment of this Act. 23

7070 line to provide support for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 5
7171 for women seeking to reverse the effects of the drug 6

7474 EFERRALS TOAPR PROVIDERSONLY.—A re-8
7575 ferral through the hotline described in subsection (a) may 9
7676 only be made to a health care provider that provides abor-10
