1717 SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
1818 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Prison Staff Safety 4
1919 Enhancement Act’’. 5

2727 (1) CORRECTIONAL OFFICER .—The term ‘‘cor-1

3232 tor General’’ means the Inspector General of the De-5

3535 NCARCERATED INDIVIDUAL .—The term 7
3636 ‘‘incarcerated individual’’ has the meaning given the 8
3737 term ‘‘prisoner’’ in section 4051 of title 18, United 9

4040 EXUAL ASSAULT.—The term ‘‘sexual as-11
4141 sault’’ means an act described in subsection (b), (c), 12
4242 or (d) of section 920 of title 10, United States Code. 13

4444 EXUAL HARASSMENT .—The term ‘‘sexual 14
4545 harassment’’ means unwelcome sexual advances, re-15
4646 quests for sexual favors, or other verbal or physical 16
4747 conduct of a sexual nature that explicitly or implic-17
4848 itly affect an individual’s employment, unreasonably 18
4949 interfere with an individual’s work performance, or 19
5050 create an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work en-20
5151 vironment. 21

5353 EVIEW ANDANALYSIS.— 22

5555 N GENERAL.—Not later than 1 year after 23
5656 the date of enactment of this Act, the Inspector 24

6161 review and analysis of the incidence and effects of 1
6262 sexual harassment and sexual assault perpetrated by 2
6363 incarcerated individuals against a correctional officer 3
6464 or other employee of the Bureau of Prisons. 4
6565 (2) A
6666 NALYSIS.—The review and analysis re-5
6767 quired under paragraph (1) shall include an analysis 6
6868 of punishments for sexual harassment and sexual as-7
6969 sault as of the date of enactment of this Act in fa-8
7070 cilities controlled by the Bureau of Prisons, includ-9
7171 ing data on the use of such punishments during the 10
7272 5-year period preceding the date of enactment of 11
7373 this Act. 12
7474 (c) R
7575 EPORT.—Not later than 180 days after com-13
7676 pleting the review and analysis under subsection (b)(1), 14
7777 the Inspector General shall submit to the Attorney Gen-15
7878 eral and to the Committee on the Judiciary of the Senate 16
7979 and the Committee on the Judiciary of the House of Rep-17
8080 resentatives a report that summarizes the findings of the 18
8181 review and analysis. 19

8383 ULEMAKING.—Not later than 1 year after re-20
8484 ceiving the report under subsection (c), the Attorney Gen-21
8585 eral shall promulgate a rule adopting national standards 22
8686 for prevention, reduction, and punishment of sexual har-23
8787 assment and sexual assault perpetrated by an incarcerated 24
