| 32 | 32 | | amended by adding at the end the following: 4 |

| 33 | 33 | | ‘‘(h)(1) In the case that the Secretary of Homeland 5 |

| 34 | 34 | | Security determines that any Presidential or Vice Presi-6 |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | dential candidate requesting a protective detail or an in-7 |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | crease in assigned protective detail resources is not eligible 8 |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | for such detail or increased resources for the purpose of 9 |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | this section, the Secretary shall submit to the candidate 10 |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | and the advisory committee, within 14 days after such a 11 |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | request is made, a written notice of the Secretary’s deter-12 |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | mination, indicating the criteria that such candidate failed 13 |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | to meet for such purpose. 14 |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | ‘‘(2) Any Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate 15 |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | may submit to the Secretary of Homeland Security a writ-16 |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | ten request to reconsider the determination described in 17 |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | paragraph (1), which may include facts to support that 18 |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | the criteria specified by the Secretary of Homeland Secu-19 |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | rity have been met for the purpose of this section. 20 |
|---|
| 49 | 49 | | ‘‘(3) Not later than 14 days after a request for recon-21 |

| 50 | 50 | | sideration is submitted under paragraph (2), the Secretary 22 |

| 51 | 51 | | of Homeland Security shall review such request and sub-23 |

| 52 | 52 | | mit to the Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate a 24 |
