Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Support Military Fam-4 ilies Act’’. 5 SEC. 2. PERMITTING TELEWORK OR REMOTE WORK FOR 6 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES WHO ARE MILITARY 7 SPOUSES. 8 (a) I NGENERAL.—Notwithstanding any other law, 9 rule, or regulation, any employee in the executive branch 10 VerDate Sep 11 2014 19:52 Mar 03, 2025 Jkt 059200 PO 00000 Frm 00001 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H977.IH H977 ssavage on LAPJG3WLY3PROD with BILLS 2 •HR 977 IH of the Federal Government who is a spouse of a member 1 of the armed forces— 2 (1) shall be exempt from any requirement to re-3 turn to full-time in-person work; and 4 (2) may engage in telework or remote work. 5 (b) A PPLICATION.—Subsection (a) shall only apply to 6 such a spouse who, prior to January 20, 2025, was eligible 7 to telework or remote work. 8 (c) GAO R EPORT.—Not later than 180 days after the 9 date of the enactment of this section, the Comptroller 10 General of the United States shall submit a report, to the 11 Committee on Oversight and Government Reform of the 12 House of Representatives and the Committee on Home-13 land Security and Governmental Affairs of the Senate, 14 and publish such report on the public website of the Gov-15 ernment Accountability Office.
