RESOLUTION
Condemning the Members of Congress constituting the
leadership team of the House Republican Conference.
Whereas, on March 5, 2025, the House Republican Con-
ference’s political arm posted a vile post on X about
United States Congressman Adriano Espaillat of New
York, the Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Cau-
cus, calling into question his immigration status and pa-
triotism;
Whereas this xenophobic rhetoric from the House Republican
Conference proves that one can follow the law, earn legal
status, become a citizen of the United States, get duly
elected to Congress, swear multiple oaths of office to up-
hold and defend the Constitution, and still be called an
‘‘illegal immigrant’’, despite its ignorance and inaccuracy;
Whereas this xenophobic and anti-immigrant rhetoric is be-
neath the oath of office for a Member of Congress and
has no place in the House of Representatives; and
Whereas this post followed an intense debate on the House
floor about decorum and the need for Members of Con-
gress to rise above political division and elevate the dis-
course of this sacred citadel of American democracy:
