1212 RESOLUTION
1313 Reaffirming the commitment of the Federal Government to
1414 historically Black colleges and universities and honoring
1515 their enduring legacy and contributions.
1616 Whereas historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs)
1717 have served as pillars of opportunity, equity, and excel-
1818 lence in higher education for more than 180 years;
1919 Whereas HBCUs continue to open doors, change lives, and
2020 uplift communities, educating nearly 300,000 students
2121 every year and preparing the next generation of teachers,
2222 engineers, health professionals, and public servants;
2323 Whereas HBCUs consistently overproduce in outcomes, grad-
2424 uating nearly 50 percent of Black teachers, 70 percent of
2525 Black dentists, and 80 percent of Black judges nation-
2626 wide;

3030 Whereas HBCUs are not just historic, they are essential, and
3131 they contribute nearly $16,500,000,000 annually to the
3232 United States economy, support more than 134,000 jobs,
3333 and serve as economic anchors in communities across the
3434 United States;
3535 Whereas HBCUs are engines of workforce development and
3636 economic mobility, advancing student success, conducting
3737 community-based research, and strengthening pathways
3838 to career-connected learning;
3939 Whereas HBCUs are national leaders in science, agriculture,
4040 public health, education, and innovation, conducting
4141 impactful research in laboratories, community centers,
4242 and campuses across the country in partnership with
4343 Federal agencies and the private sector;
4444 Whereas HBCUs thrive through investment, maximizing op-
4545 portunity and expanding access to higher education; and
4646 Whereas HBCUs are incubators of excellence, where no mat-
4747 ter your background, income, or ZIP Code, you receive
4848 a fair shot at a quality education and a better life: Now,
4949 therefore, be it
5050 Resolved, That the House of Representatives— 1
5151 (1) honors the history, mission, and enduring 2
5252 contributions of historically Black colleges and uni-3
5353 versities to the fabric of the United States; 4
5454 (2) reaffirms the commitment of the Federal 5
5555 Government to ensure the continued success, 6
5656 growth, and sustainability of historically Black col-7
5757 leges and universities across the country; and 8
