12	12	RESOLUTION
13	13	Reaffirming the commitment of the Federal Government to
14	14	historically Black colleges and universities and honoring
15	15	their enduring legacy and contributions.
16	16	Whereas historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs)
17	17	have served as pillars of opportunity, equity, and excel-
18	18	lence in higher education for more than 180 years;
19	19	Whereas HBCUs continue to open doors, change lives, and
20	20	uplift communities, educating nearly 300,000 students
21	21	every year and preparing the next generation of teachers,
22	22	engineers, health professionals, and public servants;
23	23	Whereas HBCUs consistently overproduce in outcomes, grad-
24	24	uating nearly 50 percent of Black teachers, 70 percent of
25	25	Black dentists, and 80 percent of Black judges nation-
26	26	wide;

30	30	Whereas HBCUs are not just historic, they are essential, and
31	31	they contribute nearly $16,500,000,000 annually to the
32	32	United States economy, support more than 134,000 jobs,
33	33	and serve as economic anchors in communities across the
34	34	United States;
35	35	Whereas HBCUs are engines of workforce development and
36	36	economic mobility, advancing student success, conducting
37	37	community-based research, and strengthening pathways
38	38	to career-connected learning;
39	39	Whereas HBCUs are national leaders in science, agriculture,
40	40	public health, education, and innovation, conducting
41	41	impactful research in laboratories, community centers,
42	42	and campuses across the country in partnership with
43	43	Federal agencies and the private sector;
44	44	Whereas HBCUs thrive through investment, maximizing op-
45	45	portunity and expanding access to higher education; and
46	46	Whereas HBCUs are incubators of excellence, where no mat-
47	47	ter your background, income, or ZIP Code, you receive
48	48	a fair shot at a quality education and a better life: Now,
49	49	therefore, be it
50	50	Resolved, That the House of Representatives— 1
51	51	(1) honors the history, mission, and enduring 2
52	52	contributions of historically Black colleges and uni-3
53	53	versities to the fabric of the United States; 4
54	54	(2) reaffirms the commitment of the Federal 5
55	55	Government to ensure the continued success, 6
56	56	growth, and sustainability of historically Black col-7
57	57	leges and universities across the country; and 8
