| 17 | 17 | | Point Pleasant, Ohio, and lived in Georgetown, Ohio, |

| 18 | 18 | | throughout his childhood until 1839, when he left to at- |

| 19 | 19 | | tend the United States Military Academy at West Point; |

| 20 | 20 | | Whereas, after Grant graduated from West Point, he joined |
