16	16	ment, and Recreation Act to reauthorize the National
17	17	Volcano Early Warning and Monitoring System, and for
18	18	other purposes.
19	19	Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
20	20	tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
21	21	SECTION 1. REAUTHORIZATION OF THE NATIONAL VOL-3
22	22	CANO EARLY WARNING AND MONITORING 4
23	23	SYSTEM. 5

25	25	ODERNIZATION ACTIVITIES.—Section 6
26	26	5001(b)(2)(B) of the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, 7

87	87	(c) MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATION.—Section 1
88	88	5001(b)(3) of the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Man-2
89	89	agement, and Recreation Act (43 U.S.C. 31k(b)(3)) is 3

91	91	(1) in subparagraph (D)— 5
92	92	(A) by redesignating clauses (ii) through 6
93	93	(iv) as clauses (iii) through (v), respectively; 7

95	95	(B) by inserting after clause (i) the fol-9

97	97	‘‘(ii) the Chief of the Forest Service;’’; 11

107	107	cooperative agreement entered into 20
108	108	under subparagraph (C); 21
109	109	‘‘(II) institutions of higher edu-22

111	111	‘‘(III) each volcano observatory 24
112	112	described in paragraph (1)(B)(i); and 25

121	121	OMMUNICATION.—The Secretary, in 5
122	122	coordination with State emergency management 6
123	123	partners, shall identify public communication 7
124	124	and messaging responsibilities for each of the 8
125	125	Secretary and the State emergency manage-9
126	126	ment partners to avoid confusion or duplication 10
127	127	with respect to those responsibilities.’’. 11
