Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘World War II Women’s 4 Memorial Location Act’’. 5 SEC. 2. FINDINGS. 6 Congress finds that— 7 VerDate Sep 11 2014 00:01 Mar 29, 2025 Jkt 059200 PO 00000 Frm 00001 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\S1088.IS S1088 ssavage on LAPJG3WLY3PROD with BILLS 2 •S 1088 IS (1) during World War II, more than 1 18,000,000 women answered the call during a global 2 crisis to hold down the home front by working as pi-3 lots, engineers, mechanics, code breakers, and more, 4 building planes, tanks, munitions, and other equip-5 ment needed by United States troops, and serving as 6 the backbone of the war effort; 7 (2) section 702 of division DD of the Consoli-8 dated Appropriations Act, 2023 (40 U.S.C. 8903 9 note; Public Law 117–328), authorized the World 10 War II Women’s Memorial Foundation (formerly 11 known as the ‘‘Women Who Worked on the Home 12 Front Foundation’’) to establish a commemorative 13 work on Federal land in the District of Columbia 14 and its environs to commemorate the service and 15 sacrifice to the United States of the women who 16 worked on the home front during World War II; and 17 (3) locating the commemorative work described 18 in paragraph (2) on the National Mall would be a 19 respectful extension of the enduring legacy of the 20 women who worked on the home front during World 21 War II. 22 SEC. 3.
