A BILL
To allow certain qualified law enforcement officers and re-
tired law enforcement officers to carry concealed firearms
to protect children in school zones.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Police Officers Pro-4
tecting Children Act’’. 5

SEC. 2. CERTAIN QUALIFIED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFI-1
CERS AND RETIRED LAW ENFORCEMENT OF-2
FICERS ALLOWED TO CARRY A CONCEALED 3
FIREARM, AND DISCHARGE A FIREARM, IN A 4
SCHOOL ZONE. 5
Section 922(q) of title 18, United States Code, is 6
amended— 7
(1) in paragraph (2)(B)— 8
(A) in clause (vi), by striking ‘‘; or’’ and 9
inserting a semicolon; and 10
(B) by redesignating clause (vii) as clause 11
(ix) and inserting after clause (vi) the following: 12
‘‘(vii) by a qualified law enforcement offi-13
cer, as defined in section 926B, who is author-14
ized under that section to carry a concealed 15
firearm, if the firearm is concealed; 16
‘‘(viii) by a qualified retired law enforce-17
ment officer, as defined in section 926C, who is 18
authorized under that section to carry a con-19
cealed firearm, if the firearm is concealed; or’’; 20
and 21
(2) in paragraph (3)(B)— 22
(A) in clause (iii), by striking ‘‘; or’’ and 23
inserting a semicolon; 24
(B) in clause (iv), by striking the period 25
and inserting a semicolon; and 26

(C) by adding at the end the following: 1
‘‘(v) by a qualified law enforcement officer, 2
as defined in section 926B, who is authorized 3
under that section to carry a concealed firearm; 4
or 5
‘‘(vi) by a qualified retired law enforcement 6
officer, as defined in section 926C, who is au-7
thorized under that section to carry a concealed 8
firearm.’’. 9
